General Information
Students who register for AIN2601 must :
– have at least 90 hours access to a computer
– be allowed to install Pastel Partner educational software on the abovementioned computer and the
– computer must adhere to the Pastel Partner hardware requirements for the operating system loaded on the computer.
– have access to either a virtual or a physical printer. (Cutepdf – free virtual printer software is recommended)
– have access to Microsoft Excel 2003 or Microsoft Excel 2007 or Microsoft Excel 2010 (not Microsoft Excel starter) or Open Office Calc
– have access to either WinZip or 7-Zip (7-Zip – free compression software is recommended)
– have at least 20 hours access to the internet

Accounting Information Systems in a Computer Environment – AIN1501

Purpose: To equip students with theoretical knowledge in order to explain the nature of information systems, technology infrastructure and principles of system development; to describe the security and ethical risks associated with the use of computers and to distinguish between strategic information systems in order to enable students to function as users, designers, or evaluators of accounting information systems in the work place.

Co-requisite: FAC1502 & (either AIN1501 or INF1505)
Purpose: To provide students with knowledge about the fundamental data and transaction processing principles needed to understand operating and accounting information systems (AISs). Furthermore, this module will also equip students – in their capacity as users, designers and evaluators – with the skills to apply their theoretical knowledge of accounting information systems in a practical business context.
